Thin strapped formal (prom) dress. Suggestions please?

Ok so I have a formal dress which has really thin spaghetti straps. so wearing a bra looks tacky. However I need something to hold them up, because I am definitely not free-ing it. I have tried on strapless bras, but they are all SO uncomfortable so I'm hoping not those. Does anyone know if those adhesive chicken fillets give you enough support? I am a C or a D cup depending on the store. Do you have any other suggestions?
