How should the Yankees solve their pitching problems?
Start by signing Cliff Lee. Give him a contract similar to CC's so he is near the highest paid pitcher and baseball. Even though they should sign him for less it just won't happen. Next they have to hope that Pettitte decides to come back. They will not give him anything he wants, but it would be one year around 15 million. Kerry Wood's asking price is going to be too high for a setup role. After his strong showing with the Yankees last season, he is looking to become a closer and is looking for closer money. I would stay away from Greinke unless Lee somehow ends up somewhere else. The Royals are asking for a lot and their is not reason to give up Montero, who's only 21 and will likely be the starting catcher by next season, and other highly touted prospects for a pitcher coming off a just average season in a small market. Just sign Lee and start from there. After that they should look to improve their bullpen with people like Fuentes.
