Am I being paranoid or he is being insensitive?

well he talked today about his best friend whom he found after so long, and that she is so good and called her angel girl, and also mentioned that his ex is trying to get back and he is strange, then I came to know that he didn't tell her it's over ,and that he told her to have an indefinite break from each other, and to be honest I didn't want to appear like am in shock so I just heard him till he finished and went offline with a big bruise in my heart and sobbed .am I being paranoid? or this is normal..
