Where can play my friend online in real time?

my boyfriend and are a long distance, and we'd really like to play a game together online. so it has to be in realtime and a multiplayer. and just for us two. not one of those mive mmorpg things where we both join and then go look for each other. i want something like pogo games but more like a chat room that i can open my own room and we can meet there to play. with chat function would be great. any ideas? need them asap. thanks!
