What can do to ease pain of having 6 teeth surgically removed?

This is gonna be rather long, But 2 days ago i had 4 teeth on the bottom wisdom tooth and another one next to it removed surgically(i was put to sleep for it) They have me on 500 mg penicillin 4 times a day and a pain killer, The vicoden does take the edge off, And they had to put stitches in 1 or 2 of the ones on the bottom, It's constantly throbbing and if feels like there is a knife going through my gums, They told me to use salt water rinse(but for what i don't know what its spose to do) It doesn't seem to help, i'm still not able to eat solid foods yet, i'm stuck on pudding jello and chicken broth and frostys. The pain is keeping me up basically all nite long because it doesn't calm down, I don't know what else i can do that would help ease the pain, over the counter pain relievers don't help. If anybody has any idea on what i can do to try and ease the pain. It's getting me to the point of i'm getting disgusted with myself because of all of this i'm going through, I'm at my wits ends....
