My cable box & dvd player got wet, will I need new ones?

water spilled frm the top shelf to the bottom onto my cable box and my dvd player, it started making popping noises, but i didnt knw the water had spilled til i lifted the box.i felt an electric current whn I unplugged it & was told to swap it out @ the service center, but will they & will I also need a new dvd player?
